The ARPA 4 ARTS 2022 grant by the Department of Arts & Culture, City of San Antonio has helped me create a body of work that involves numerous drawings, paintings of my series "Mutations".
In addition, I am in the process of creating wall reliefs and 3 dimensional sculptures based on this concept.
Bringing myself out of the imposed isolation of the pandemic, I have been able to return to a brighter and cleaner and sharper palette, with a new sense of order which opened the gate to reinvent myself. I learned to identify and start practicing the healing power of art!
"Mutations" is the concept of migration and the interchanging of natural forms that creates incredible possibilities and challenges. The concept keeps my interest in this project alive. It has motivated me to continue to move forward with my dreams and ideals and imagine a world in which I live and thrive.
